Stepping Back in Time
This Sunday’s Evening Worship will be a journey back into the earliest days of Anglicanism. We will be praying with the Evensong rite out of the 1549 Book of Common Prayer— the first Prayerbook of the Church of England. This Prayerbook was formulated during the reign of King Edward VI and was composed by the Anglican divine Thomas Cranmer.
While the language may be familiar to us centuries later, there are some curious differences from our current versions of Evening Prayer. Even though the Service is rooted in a particular historical context, I invite all to come to prayerfully utilize these old words to make our common prayers unto God. All are welcome to bring a friend or two and join us this Sunday at 5:00 PM in the Memorial Garden.
May God bless you,
