Message from the Senior Warden on Stewardship

Happy New Year, everyone! I know we are all filled with hope and also some anxiety to learn what 2021 has in store.

For the vestry, the first order of business for the year will be to approve the 2021 St. Paul’s budget, which we plan to do at our next meeting on Tuesday, January 19th. Our Treasurer Chris Carter will then present the budget to the parish at our Annual Meeting, to be held on January 31st via Zoom.

To enable an effective budget discussion, we need to finalize our view of pledge commitments for the year. With that in mind, we ask that any of you who have not yet submitted your 2021 pledge please do so as soon as possible by either sending in the pledge card that was mailed to you in October, or submitting a pledge online via the Stewardship page on the St. Paul’s web site: https://www.stpaulsriverside.org/give/. We appreciate that circumstances of recent months may have diluted the focus on our recent Stewardship campaign, so we wanted to provide this reminder to any parishioners whose pledges are still outstanding. It’s not too late to get your pledge in!

Also, as we head into 2021, I would like to personally encourage any suggestions, ideas or feedback from any of you so that I can feed them into our vestry discussions. As you may be aware we typically hold an annual vestry retreat in late February at Camp Washington to review progress and discuss focus areas for the coming church year. While we are still considering the format of this year’s retreat, the substance of our discussions will be as critical as ever in light of the opportunities and challenges we face as a parish. Without the benefit of our usual coffee hours, I’m conscious that I haven’t been able to engage with all of you as much as I would have liked; I would therefore welcome your thoughts either by email at [email protected], or over the phone or your video chat tool of choice. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you as always for your support of St. Paul’s.

Holden Sibley
Senor Warden
