A Thank You From Fr. Eric
My ordination service on Wednesday evening was a night I will certainly never forget. I was moved by the Spirit of God who was certainly present and felt by many in attendance. I am truly blessed to be able to serve as Curate here at St. Paul’s. Some of you have asked me what you are to call me now that I am a priest. I have decided to go by Father Eric from now on!
I want to thank all of the parishioners of this Church who were in attendance to witness the rite, and all those who helped “behind the scenes”. From the Altar Guild, to those who set up, made, and purchased food for the reception, to David and the choir for lifting up our prayers in song and music— I am very thankful. I am constantly learning and being formed by each and every one of you day in and day out.
I do not think I could have had a better first call as a clergyman. A time like this in my life is certainly a bittersweet one. I am so full of gladness and joy and yet aware that I will only be with St. Paul’s for a particular amount of time as a curate in my first call. While it is easy to get caught up in these bittersweet feelings, God charges me and all of us to “not worry about tomorrow” and so with that in mind, and in the shadow of my priestly ordination I am renewed in my excitement to minister to this parish as pastor, preacher, presider, and teacher for the months ahead.
May God bless you.
